Resource Access Points

Resource Access Points

Each young person can access appropriate support through our Resources Access Points and by working together with an Individual Support Worker to address issues in the following areas:

1.      Managing a tenancy, e.g. help with payment of bills and benefit claims.
2.      Health, e.g. support in accessing primary health care and addressing problematic drug use.
3.      Social and Life Skills, e.g. advocating and negotiating with neighbours and addressing offending behaviour.
4.      General Vocational Guidance, e.g. support in exploring the options available and maintaining attendance.

The type of service SHAP provides is best described as Tier 1 in the HAS ‘Four Tier’ model.

Over 30% of the 188 young people who accessed SHAP last year were involved in drug misuse, the majority being 16–18 year olds.
